Sapta Chakra Viveka ( 4. Anāhata Chakra)

Sapta Chakra Viveka ( 4. Anāhata Chakra)

4. Anāhata Chakra (अनाहत चक्र)

Sanskrit Śloka

हृदि पद्मं द्वादशारं अनाहतमुदाहृतम् ।
यकारबीजसंयुक्तं वायुतत्त्वविभूषितम् ॥

Meaning: The twelve-petaled Anāhata lotus shines in the heart, adorned by the air element and the bīja YAM.

Anāhata, the unstruck sound, is the lotus of the heart where love, compassion, and devotion arise spontaneously. Located at the center of the chest, it bridges the lower and higher chakras, harmonizing earthly life with spiritual aspiration.

Its element is Vāyu (air), symbolizing expansiveness and movement. The bīja mantra YAM opens the heart and dissolves sorrow. Anāhata is traditionally associated with Lord Śiva or Īśvara, embodying pure consciousness and grace.

When awakened, this chakra radiates unconditional love, forgiveness, and inner peace. The seeker experiences bhakti—devotion that transcends expectation. Imbalance, however, results in grief, attachment, or emotional withdrawal.

Through prayer, charity, selfless love, and meditation on the indwelling Self (Antaryāmin), Anāhata blossoms. It teaches that love is not possession, but recognition of the same Self in all beings.
