Sapta Chakra Viveka ( 5. Viśuddha Chakra)

Sapta Chakra Viveka ( 5. Viśuddha Chakra)

5. Viśuddha Chakra (विशुद्ध चक्र)

The Viśuddha Chakra blossoms at the throat as a radiant sixteen-petaled lotus, subtle and luminous. It is infused with Ākāśa (ether)—the vast, open space in which all sound is born—and resonates with the bīja mantra HAM, a vibration that cleanses and clarifies.

Viśuddha is the center of purity, not just of words, but of intention. It governs how we speak, listen, and express our inner truth. From this space, speech becomes more than sound—it becomes a reflection of the soul. When our thoughts, emotions, and awareness are aligned, the voice carries honesty and grace.

Its element, ether, reminds us that true communication requires space—space to listen, space to pause, and space for truth to emerge naturally. The mantra HAM gently purifies this inner channel, dissolving fear, confusion, and the urge to speak from ego rather than awareness.

When Viśuddha is balanced, words flow with clarity and kindness. One speaks with integrity, listens deeply, and expresses wisdom without force. Such speech uplifts, heals, and carries a quiet power. When this chakra is disturbed, the voice may tremble or turn sharp—truth may be hidden, distorted, or left unspoken.

Through Vedic chanting, mauna (sacred silence), mindful speech, and the study of holy texts, Viśuddha becomes refined. Silence itself becomes a teacher, revealing when words are needed and when they are not.

Viśuddha ultimately reminds us of a timeless truth:
Words are sacred vibrations. When they arise from inner purity, they carry the power to create, heal, and awaken.
